Screen resolution choice?

Another issue I have to think about is the dimensions of my webpages for my website because some monitors have different resolution sizes and if I give one of my webpages a resolution of 480x800 and the viewer's monitor resolution is 1366x768 then the webpage in the browser will be too small and out of place. So I done some research into screen resolutions and found that statistically back in January 2011, when "www.w3schools.com" surveyed visitors to their website, the most used screen resolution was 1280x1024. Meaning using this information, it be more practical to create a website with dimensions of around that size, rather than having dimensions that are too small for the monitor.

Websites of Inspiration

There are a lot of artists out there that inspire me either lyrically or production wise, that make you believe that you can achieve even though you may not see it yourself. Before I start designing any page on my website, I searched the internet for these artists, seeing what their websites look like and what they feature, thinking how do they use their website to fully promote themselves and get people coming back for more.

J. Cole's Official Website - http://www.jcolemusic.com/us/home

 J. Cole is one of the biggest hip-hop names around at this moment in time. I like how his name stands out from the rest of the website, telling the user who he is straight off. The website has got a simple navigation system, you can find a certain content of his within seconds, he also posts his new stuff just under the navigation bar, keeping his fans up to date as soon as they enter the site.

30 Seconds to Mars Official Website - http://thirtysecondstomars.thisisthehive.net/blog/

In my eyes 30 Seconds to Mars are one of the biggest bands ever, the way they compose their music is what complete grips you to them listening to them. However although their music can never be underrated, I was rather disappointed with their official website, it took a while to load up in the browser, as soon as you enter their homepage it just consists of an endless blog and adverts are all over the place. Their navigation system for their website seemed quite standard for such a mainstream band and improvements are needed.
